Context: Originally intended to be worn around the neck on a chain, the pendant is shaped as a miniature triptych with wings or shutters that could be opened and closed for private devotion. The outer surfaces of the shutters are decorated with two prophets. The remaining images include: The Presentation in the Temple, The Annunciation, Adoration of the Magi, The Circumcision, and The Education of the Virgin.
