Context: This pendant constitutes what might be called a visual pun. At first glance the form is simply a human figure, seated with raised knees. A closer look reveals that the human body is composed of two birds. The birds' heads and long beaks from the figure's knees and lower legs, their bodies comprise the buttocks, and the fanned tails join together to form the shoulders.
