Inscriptions: Artist's inscription, signature, and seal:Planted pines to give forth mature beauty -- all manifest the hearts of lofty men;Drilled rock to erect a thatched house which year long is covered with green shade.White clouds unexpectedly appear, and stretch and contract as there is space in the groove.The myriad sounds for a time fall silent, and a trifling breeze drops a pure tone.No one can describe this feeling, and who could appraise this scene?One can only face the near side of a thousand peaks together with a five-stringed lute.Peach blossoms will follow the green water -- and, without one realizing it, spring will again be deep.On the "Day of Flowers" in the chia-ch'en year[twelfth day of the second lunar month of 1664], inscribed at the Blue-Lotus Pavilion by the Old Man of Chung Mountain. Hsiao Yün-ts'ung [seal] Chung-shan lao-jen.4 colophons and 27 additional seals: 1 colophon, dated 1811, and 5 seals of Hsiang Yüan (18th-19th c.); 1 colophon, dated 1858, and 2 seals of Ch'i Chün-tsao (1793-1866); 1 colophon and 4 seals of Chang Ch'ien (18th c.); 4 seals of Chiang Hsün (18th c.); 1 colophon dated 1943, and 2 seals of Wang Chao-ming (19th-20th c.); 1 seal of Ch'i Chih-liu (19th c.); 3 seals of Shen Feng (dates unknown); 2 seals of Yü Chih-meng (dates unknown); 4 seals unidentified.
