David Rumsey Collection 3D GIS Technical Requirements

Warning: In order to use the David Rumsey Collection Interactive 3D , your system MUST meet the minimum requirements as set forth below. If your system does not meet these minimum standards, you may experience system instability, crashes, or otherwise create havoc with your operating system. Therefore it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you not proceed with this demo unless your system meets the minimums as listed BELOW.

Minimum System Requirements

Virtools Web Player for Windows. For Mac OSX, Download Here. This should download automatically when you launch the 3D GIS Viewer. Windows 95/98/ME/NT4.0/2000/XP, MAC OSX (beta).
Direct3D or OpenGL compatible 3D accelerator graphics video card with at least 8 MB of RAM. Use the small screen viewer if you have only 8 MB of video RAM - the full screen viewer will likely crash your machine. If the motion is slow in the viewer, zoom in and it will speed up. To find the amount of RAM on your video card, right click on the desktop, choose Properties, Settings, Advanced, Adapter.
DirectX 7 or higher for Win 9x
Internet Explorer 5.1 or Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.7. Netscape 6 and 7 are not yet supported, but will be soon.
Monitor color display set to 16 bit (65536) or 32 bits (True Color)
Sound Card

You should also make sure that you have installed the latest drivers for your video card.
