From Clovis, New Mexico to Waynoka, Oklahoma it was still necessary to travel that section by rail. The map also shows the TAT weather reporting stations begun specifically to service this air route. By teletype the observers were able to communicate with the pilots about weather conditions in the upcoming regions. The "Certificate of Flight" was completed by Mason Menefee. He departed Los Angeles on April 25, 1930 and went as far as St. Louis, Missouri. On the verso is a schematic Weather map also showing the route, a "Certificate of Flight," and a "Log of the Flight." The log of the flight is filled in indicating that weather trouble en route caused delays and additional travel by train ("A few passengers very mad"). The certificate shows that Mason Menefee made the trip starting April 25, 1930, from Los Angeles to St. Louis. This is an example of the maps and route tables used in early commercial air travel in the U.S. Map are full color and folded into textured navy blue cloth covers 19.5x11 with "Coast to Coast by Plane and Train.
