This method was based on a teaching system formulated by Johann Hubner (1668-1731) and adapted by Homann. Four celestial maps illustrate the systems of Ptolemy, Tycho Brahe, Copernicus, and Descartes. Fourteen keyed maps show the countries and continents of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. California is shown as an island on the Americas map, and listed under islands in the key. Homann published an Atlas Scholasticus in 1732 (Phillips 577) which was also a collaboration with Hubner. Scarce. Maps are in full color, and atlas is bound in untitled red marbled paper covered boards with a vellum spine.
