Map of the area between the environs of Rome and the harbor at Ostia, by Hendrik Van Schoel. Illustrates the theater of war during the siege of Spanish-held Ostia by General Pietro Strozzi, Superintendent of the Papal army, resulting in the capitulation of the fortress on January 24, 1557. Shows roads, rivers, fortress, buildings, Roman Aqueducts between Rome, the port of Ostia and the medieval walled town of Ostia, The first state of this map is attributed to Antonio Salamanca and was published by Lafreri in 1557. While Lafreri School Battle Plans occasionally show roads, this map is quite exceptional as a regional map which shows both roads and Roman Aqueducts.

Plan of Rome on 12 sheets, here originally assembled as a wall map. Nolli was an Italian architect and surveyor. He began surveying for his Rome map in 1736 and engraved it in 1748. The map was published in response to the commission of Pope Benedict XIV to survey Rome in order to help create demarcations for the 14 traditional rioni or districts. It was by far the most accurate description of Rome produced to date at the time. For decades it continued to be used as a base map for many of the maps of Rome that followed it. Stefano Pozzi engraved the views at the bottom of the map.

Plan of Rome, reduced from the large Nolli "Topografia di Roma" on 12 sheets, with various views on border. published in 1748. He collaborated with Piranesi on this small reduction that appeared in the atlas of the 12 sheets, after the index. This is why it has the plate number 33 at top left and 34 at top right. The plan is by Giovanni Battista Nolli, the views around it by Piranesi. Map includes 170 entries in the index, and hundreds more locations marked on the actual plan. Includes dedicated text at the top left corner with a decorative cartouche. The city is represented only within the Aurelian walls except for areas outside the Porta Pia and the Porta del Popolo. Below the plan is a view of St. Peter's Square, the Trevi Fountain, Santa Maria Maggiore and Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. Shows names of buildings, plazas, churches, drainage, and other points of interest. Includes title cartouche.
