Note
Colored rotating chart of the British Empire, with its colonies around the world, such as Jamaica and Uganda. First edition. When the user points the arrow at a country around the circular perimeter, small openings reveal eight different geographical data points about the country: Area in square miles -- Population of Country : White / Native -- Exports to : Empire / other countries in 1000 £'s -- Imports from : Empire / Other countries in 1000 £'s -- Principal products and industries -- Capital or chief city / Population -- Time when noon in London -- Time in days / Distance in miles by sea from London. Also, within the pointing arrow a number appears for each country - associated with an index number on the map - for connecting the data points with the location. Country names around the perimeter appear in alphabetical order and note sovereignty, such as "Dominion" for Canada and "B.I. Colony" for Cyprus. Includes instructions for use, as well as an illustration of the British flag. Map is 25 x 25 cm, placed upon circular base 28 x 28 cm. This copy has abrasions around some of the perimeter place names, rendering those illegible. Verso has colophon and errata, as well as advertisement listing other "At-A-Glance" publications: Europe Wheel, etc. (Date estimated based upon penciled annotation on verso.)
