1st edition with inset maps of 31 cities and towns, list of subscriber's names in one block to left of state map, inset "Geological Map of the State of Vermont Compiled by Albert Hager 1859" (which is the only date on the whole map). Above the title: "Note - The Projection made use of in constructing this Map is the Rectangular Polyconic, as given in the computations and tables contained in the Reports of the U.S. Coast Survey. The Northern Boundary of the State is copied from the Survey of the United States and Canada Boundary Commission of 1848, and the southern Boundary from the Trigonometrical Survey of Massachusetts, by Simeon Borden, in 1844. The details are from various local surveys, made principally under the direction of H.F. Walling." The 2nd edition was published in 1860, and rearranged the insets, subscriber list, and state map (see our copy). Top and bottom rollers are black wood. Full color by township.
