(Apollo 15 EVA Atlas) Hadley-Apennine Landing Site Apollo 15 - 1:12,500 and 10;25,000. U.S.G.S, Center for Astrogeology. July 1971.
Pub Note:
Hadley Rille and the Apennine Mountains landing site, detailing the projected routes of Apollo 15's three EVAs. For the Apollo 15 mission, describes and illustrates the physiography of the landing site and each lunar surface scientific experiment. Consists of 25 loose sheets, a key sheet “Geological map explanation” and 24 maps. Showing the planned and contingency routes alongside the features that the astronauts described back to the USGS scientists on earth. Observations and routes are shown on both topographic maps and aerial images. Describes geomorphological features, and also the presence of fans, flows, and a pluton. These maps are made in a stellar exposures style, to display geologic formations and landforms. "An Atlas for a Walk on the Moon. An extremely rare Apollo 15 extravehicular activity (EVA) atlas, detailing the projected routes of Apollo 15's three EVAs. The ephemeral nature of the atlas (loose sheets secured with a single staple) probably contributes to the atlas's extreme rarity; we find no copies list in OCLC nor any other copies ever having been offered for sale. A major theme in these images is the geological observations made during the mission." (Ruderman, 2023)
