1927 edition of Geographical and statistical atlas of the universe. By Anton Leo Hickmann (1834 - 1906). Completely revised by Alois Fischer. Printed and published by the cartographic institute G. Freytag & Berndt AG, Vienna. Hickmann, the Austrian teacher, geographer and statistician, studied at the German Univ. in Prague, habilitated there in modern languages and economics and dealt with the popularization of geography. Hickmann wrote popular statistical works and was one of the first to use the image instead of the number in them. The atlas includes 80 pages of text, including list of colonies, pronunciation, coats of arms, coins, etc., 90 pages of color maps and charts, diagrams, statistical tables and text. 40 maps some double leaf, presenting boundaries, major cities, topography, steamship routes and distances and railways. Bound in embossed beige hard covers with title in black.
