Front cover includes gilded title, imprint and illustration, with caption: "Aperire Terram Gentibus" Ferdinand de Lesseps, 1805-1894. With handwritten annotation in ink: ... Suez, 19/11/44. (Publication date inferred based upon this annotation.) Volume contains a title page, a list of significant details - such as total length, average width, medium depth and time of passage - and descriptive text in English, with French, German and Italian translations. A miniature frontispiece facing folded map features a view of an Egyptian tomb and pyramid.
