Pub Note:
Atlas of the Pampas plains, extending westward across central Argentina from the Atlantic coast to the Andean foothills, bounded by the Gran Chaco (north) and Patagonia (south). Includes engraved title page and 15 double page color maps by Jordan Wysocki. Published by Alb. Larsch, Buenos Aires. Relief shown by hachures. Depths shown by soundings. Prime meridian is Buenos Aires. In leather covers with title on front cover. Maps have some of the most detailed names and locations of Indian tribes for the period. The maps show the attempts by the Argentine Military forces to extend the authority of the government over the indigenous peoples of the Argentine plains during the 1870's. The final map shows in blue the proposed (and built) wall and ditch that eventually proved ineffective in stopping major attacks by the Indian forces against the government.
