Pub Note:
Canadian born author John Auldjo demonstrated his interest in mountains by climbing Mont Blanc in 1827 at around the age of 22, subsequently writing a popular account of the adventure. Soon after, while living in Naples, he scaled Mount Vesuvius and published this account. His investigations of Vesuvius were subsequently rewarded with Fellowships at the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society. Running with high society and literary and diplomatic circles, he was also a high level Freemason. (Wikipedia).
