Note:
This map is the first large map of Mexico produced in Mexico from indigenous sources. Garcia Cubas had produced the first atlas of Mexico, Atlas Geografico, Estadistico e Historico de la Republica Mexicana, in 1858 which included a smaller map of Mexico that bears some resemblance to this much larger map. This larger map has many inset maps of cities and coasts, as well as statistical tables, illustrations showing the comparative heights of Mexico's mountains and the lengths of it rivers, tables of distances, and other information. Two large illustrations show the Valley of Mexico and the Matlala Aqueduct.
