Engraved, 23 1/2 x 34 1/2 inches, colored in outline. Dissected, mounted on linen, folded to 9 x 5 inches, in original slip case (24 x 14 cm.) with Wyld's label, with title Oregon District. Inset: 21 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches. This is a close copy of the original, but with much of the hachuring of mountains omitted as well as the representation of wooded areas. The boundaries of the Indian tribes are colored so that the ethnographic character of the map is emphasized. Original in the Warren Heckrotte Collection, which is source of description and notes. |
