Hyde states in the preface that "The inquiry and interest taken in suburban real estate during the last few years has grown rapidly to great proportions, until, many of the most prominent real estate firms are now actively engaged in promoting and improving desirable localities at a very large expense." Hyde also mentions the new Bronx River Parkway, one of the first parkways in the country: "The proposed Bronx River Reserve and Parkway is shown in green on Pages 1, 3 and 6. This important public improvement was approved by the Bronx Parkway Commission on December 27th, 1906." |
