This is a reduction of the large six sheet Chart of New York Bay, edition of 1844, the first copper plate chart. Map is edged in green silk, dissected into 15 sections and mounted on linen. Full color. Folds up with marbled end sheets with a label printed with the above title in ms, and below that, a label printed with "... Durate. S. Alofsen." Map lies in a new tan cloth folding case 23x20 with "New York Bay & Harbor U.S. Coast Survey 1845" stamped on the spine in gold. |
