| Note |
Scarce map on printed linen. Threads of History shows only four early linen maps, this and Mitchell's 1835 Traveler's Guide map and two of Washington, D.C. Another copy of this map was issued fully colored, our copy is uncolored with a light sepia tone. The geography is simplified showing only towns and rivers, to allow for the grosser printing detail possible on cloth. Prime meridian: Washington. The initials "J.S." are embroidered in brown thread in the lower left margin. |
