From the Finley 1826 American Atlas, reissued by Mitchell in 1831. Adds steamboat routes and stage routes. As Mitchell issued improved editions of Finley's American Atlas maps, the borders became more elaborate, as is the case here, and the map covers added a more decorative design; covers are black leather 13.5x8.5 with "Mitchell's Map Of Louisiana Alabama & Mississippi" in gilt. Full color. This copy shows many new counties in all three states, roads, etc. when compared with the 1831 edition. Inside the front cover "Census Of 1830" for all three states. This is a late version of the original Finley map of 1826, acquired by Mitchell in 1831. Compared to the 1831 issue, three inset maps, Vicinities of Nashville, Louisville and Lexington, have been added, along with a table of stage and steamboat routes, a decorative border and many new roads and towns. A beautiful map, folded into stamped burgundy leather covers 13.5x8 with "Mitchell's Map Of Kentucky And Tennessee" in gilt. The inside front cover has a table of Population by Counties in 1840 for both states. Full color. Prime meridian is Washington D.C. Relief shown by hachures.

This is a thoroughly revised second edition of the 1831 edition of this map: three inset maps of the vicinities of Philadelphia, Lancaster, and Pittsburgh are added along with a map of the Lehigh and Schuylkill Coal Regions, the title is reset with the word "compiled" replacing "constructed," and many new roads, towns, and distances are added. The inside front cover has a Census of 1830 listing for all three states. Map is full color, folded into red leather covers 13.5x8 with "Pennsylvania New Jersey & Delaware" and a border stamped in gilt. Prime meridian is Greenwich.
