2nd issue. "The publication of this splendid atlas, begun in 1818 and finished only in 1831, apparently was disastrous to its originator, for the first issue was published by 'The Trustees,' but the 1832 title has Thomson's own imprint. ... The plates were in 1838 sold to W. and A.K. Johnston, who produced the maps by lithography with their own name instead of Thomson's, and with W. Blackwood and Sons as publishers ..." --Royal Scottish Geographical Society's Early maps of Scotland, 2d. ed., 1936, p. 50 (as quoted in Phillips). 29 (i.e. 30) maps on 119 leaves. Brown half leather, brown cloth. Cover stamped in gilt "Atlas of Scotland."
