The first large scale map of the state to be issued after the Greenleaf third edition of 1844. This copy is dissected and folded. The 29 inset maps include: Presque Isle; Houlton; Calais; City Of Bangor; Ellsworth; Eastport; Machias; Mountains In Maine - With Their Heights In Feet; Map Of The United States... ; Map Of The World; Belfast; Saco And Biddeford; Auburn And Lewiston; Rockland; Thomaston; Brunswick; Portland; Waldoboro; Bath; Farmington; Waterville; Augusta; Fryeburg; Paris Hill; Hallowell; Gardiner; Dover & Foxcroft; Skowhegan; and Wiscasset. Full color. Dissected into 36 sections, and edged and backed with linen. Map has a tan linen border and folds into end sheets of brown marbled paper then into a new tan cloth folding case 29x29 with "Maine Walling & Chace 1862" stamped in gilt on the spine. Relief shown with hachures.
