This is new and larger copy of the map, with copyright and imprint information, also text on three sides of the map gives information on the historical figures mentioned. For library's previous copy, see Pub list # 8622.000. The land and sea routes of explorers of the region between 1528 and 1793 are indicated on the map. Includes pictorial decorative borders on 3 sides, with illustrations related to the explorations, including portraits of the explorers, their ships, or events that occurred in connection with their journeys. Dotted lines showing the extensive explorations of the Spanish. The legend at lower left lists 30 explorations. On the map itself are small illustrations of wildlife such as bison (buffalo), trees, people and Indian settlement etc. Title and legend framed with with elaborate cartouche. Relief shown by shadings.
