Note First edition. Gill and Colton published a map of Oregon and Washington under Habersham's name in 1874 that is slightly larger (see our copy of the Oregon map). This is one of the first and best maps that show both Oregon and Washington together, in a large scale, published as a separate. Gill also published the Oregon and Washington portions of this map separately, as individual maps. Full color by county, folded into brown cloth covers 16x10.5 with gold embossed title "County & Township Map Of Oregon & Wash. Ty. Published By J.K. Gill & Co., Portland, Oregon. 1878."

Note A scarce, early, large scale map of Oregon that precedes the more referenced (Streeter, Graff) map of 1878. Gill also made a separate map of Washington and a combined map of Oregon and Washington, all from the same plates. A note at the bottom of the map reads "The Author acknowledges the receipt of valuable information from Col. John Mendenhall, 4th Artillery U.S.A. and Jesse Applegate Esq. respecting the "Modoc Country" and the vicinity of Klamath, Wright and Goose Lakes." Colton was used by Gill to do the engraving and printing, by the 1878 edition, Gill was able to accomplish this in Portland. With a paste down list of "Statistics from Official Sources" about Oregon on the inside front cover. Full color by county, folded into dark brown cloth covers 15.5x10 with "New Sectional & County Map Of Oregon Published By J.K. Gill & Co. Portland, Oregon." in gilt.
