Note Shows roads suitable for bicycles marked in red. A very late Colton map - the date of 1892 is the copyright date, the map may be of later date, but no other date is indicated. The cover style and address of 312 Broadway is the same as the 1896 map of Staten Island. Printed outline color by township. The mustard cloth covers 16x9 are stamped with "Colton's Driving and Wheeling Map Of The Country Twenty-Five Miles North Of The City Of New York. G.W. & C.B. & Co. A note in red above the title says "These maps are particularly intended for the use of Sportsmen, Wheelmen, and Driving Parties, and we respectfully request that any errors or omissions which may be noticed, or other Suggestions for their improvement, shall be at once reported to us, that they may be incorporated into future editions. We especially desire names of creeks and ponds and information respecting new roads, etc." There is a catalogue of Colton road maps on the inside front cover. Note This map of Chicago first appeared in Colton's General Atlas of 1870 on the same page with a map of St. Louis. Here it has been used as a separate newspaper insert to show the area burned in the fire of October, 1871. The portion of the title "Map Of Chicago Showing The Burnt District" is colored in red and overprinted on the map for dramatic effect, as is the area on the map that encompasses the burnt district. A scarce piece of ephemera.

Note This is a very late edition of this map, not listed in any of the standard references. The main map shows much new county development in the western part of the state as well as a redrawing of many of the rivers in the northwestern part and the upper end of the Rio Grande. The inset map has changed from a rectangle to an oval, still showing the Western States from the Colton U.S. map. Colton is not listed as publisher of this edition on the map, but the stamped dark brown cloth covers 16x10 say "J. De Cordova's Texas Published by G.W. & C.B. Colton & Co." in gilt. Full color.
