Note
2nd edition, 1st was 1835. First map engraved by Farmer himself. The last territorial map by Farmer, before statehood in 1837. The boundary with Ohio shows Michigan's claims that were relinquished upon statehood. Another issue of the map appeared in 1836 with "Published by J.H. Colton & Co., New York" in the title, reflecting the copyright transfer that occurred later in the year. A paste down ad for Colton's maps is on the inside back cover. The first issue of this map was in 1826, engraved by Balch & Stiles (Karpinski 100). The full color map is folded into stamped black leather covers 15x9 with "Farmer's Map Of Michigan Exhibiting The Sections" in gilt.
