2nd edition, 1st 1847 issue, without the lower "Road Between Mexico & Vera Cruz" inset but with an upper right inset of "The late Battlefield" (Monterey). The 1st edition was 1846, also without the lower inset (Streeter 3868). The 2nd edition is this copy, almost the same as the 1846 issue (some towns added in Northern Mexico), but dated 1847 (not in Streeter or Wheat). The 3rd edition is dated 1847 and adds the lower inset map mentioned above (Streeter 3869, Wheat Gold 35). A much simpler map than the Map of Texas, Oregon and California of 1846, with no engraver credit. Full color, with Texas outlined in red, folded into stamped black leather covers 13.5x8 with "Mexico" in gilt.
