Liquor and luggage! I have no clue what this building used to be. As with much of 20th Century New Orleans archictecture, nobody seems very interested. The 8-story logo S and the skewed aluminum three-tone grid are spectacular. I hope the damage will be repaired, but given the building's vintage, I'm not optimistic. Together with the nearby Streamline Deco Walgreen's and Gus Mayer Co. buildings, the lacy building, the Egyptian Deco Mangel's, and a wide assortment of neon signs, these blocks hold a remarkable collection of mid-20th Century design styles.
